An intrepid team of missionaries from St. James's Episcopal Church traveled to Mustard Seed Clinic in Akot, Southern Sudan. This was the fifth trip to this Akot to share love and care for the Dinka in this region. The team: Dr. Read McGehee, Caroline Pascual, Ann Dieterle, Hunter Garland and Suzanne Hall. This blog continues to feature journal entries of Dr. Clarke McIntosh and of other news to our many friends interested in this mission.

Independence day
When I was in Sudan I took some used Mac laptops and taught the Dinka how to use them. Now I have the benefit of some pen pals from the heart of Sudan. Very, very cool and so meaningful. So I will share unedited news from the newly independent Sudan:
Dear Sister,
Today we raised the flag of Southern Sudan at a place called Aduel , approximately 3o miles away from Rumbek and 5 miles away from Akot .It was very joyous and wonderful for every southern sudanese to see this great day of independence from Arabs .It was even done with a lot of funs. Flag that used to be raised was lowered down to the ground and people were mocking at what ever carries their names(Arabs) 21 bullets were fired into the air to signal the years that we fought with the Arabs to attain independence. At Akot , everybody enjoyed this day .Some went to their respective churches and others went as far as Aduel and Rumbek where a huge number of people turned up for the celebration. In each of the place ,those who fought having lost parts of their bodies ,others lost both limbs and others lost either a hand or both were brought to raised the flags meaning" if it was n,t for their efforts nothing should me seen happening like today".
I hope you are all doing well with you family and colleagues or friends. I think you might have watched and enjoyed this day with us. Today would not have be seen like this without your tireless efforts as well. So ,you even owe us a great deal of thanks.
God bless you all
Anjelo
